Ep 17 Part Two: Asian Uni Life, Work, Love and Travel in Australia
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Part 2 of Episode 17! Our special collaboration with The Asian Soup Podcast continues as we touch on many topics about life in Australia as an Asian. Our SOUPER friends, Roxane and Julia, join us again from Sydney and we dive deeper into the similarities and differences growing up halfway around the world. Curtis, Mandy, and Madison also share their Asian American experiences and make plans for a hypothetical but hopefully real meet-up in the future! Also, you can tell from this picture that we were on opposite sides of the world because we have half the group wearing blankets and sweaters in the pitch black of winter while the other group is wearing tank tops and dresses on a bright Aussie summer day before Christmas!
Did you grow up Asian where you weren't part of the dominant culture? Share with us your thoughts at Infatuasianpodcast@gmail.com Please give us a review or rating at Apple Podcasts or Spotify! And follow us over on Instagram @theinfatuasianpodcast
More episodes coming soon! We'll be talking Tony Leung films as well as having Chef Shirley Chung from Top Chef season 11 and 14 (co-hosted by my favorite sister Caryl!)

Tuesday Jan 04, 2022
Episode 17 Part One! Does growing up Asian halfway around the world, on a different continent, in a different hemisphere lead to a different experience? Today we have a SOUPER fun collaboration with two Asian Aussies, Roxane and Julia, the hosts of The Asian Soup Podcast! Listen to my co-host Mandy, Intern Madison, and me chat with our friends down under about a wide variety of topics about growing up in places where we were not the dominant culture. An InfatuAsian Side Dish: The Hong Konger Anthology with Sophia Hotung
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
An end-of-the-year surprise episode! In this Side Dish episode, we will discuss The Hong Konger Anthology by Sophia Hotung. Author and Illustrator Sophia Zoomed in from Hong Kong to chat with me about her life's journey, her art, and her 1st book! What started as a joke/parody of The New Yorker magazine covers, grew and evolved as a way for Sophia to express her experiences and observations of a place her family has called home for over 150 years. I think you'll really enjoy hearing her stories living both as an insider and an outsider in Hong Kong.
You can find out more about Sophia and her book or message her at Sophiahotung.com or follow her @sophiahotung on most social media platforms.
If you'd like to connect with me, you can email me at Infatuasianpodcast@gmail.com or on Instagram @theinfatuasianpodcast Please consider giving us a rating or review on Apple or now Spotify!

Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Another surprise side dish podcast! I am very excited to share this conversation I had with filmmaker Debbie Lum about her documentary film, Try Harder! This film hit me personally as it was filmed at my high school, documenting the struggle today's teenagers feel as they apply to the most prestigious Universities in the country. It opens more widely on December 2nd or 3rd. Please go to Tryharderfilm.com to see which theaters it is playing in. Go see this film, I highly recommend it! Special thanks to Director/Producer Debbie Lum for coming on with us!
