An InfatuAsian Side Dish: The Hong Konger Anthology with Sophia Hotung
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
An end-of-the-year surprise episode! In this Side Dish episode, we will discuss The Hong Konger Anthology by Sophia Hotung. Author and Illustrator Sophia Zoomed in from Hong Kong to chat with me about her life's journey, her art, and her 1st book! What started as a joke/parody of The New Yorker magazine covers, grew and evolved as a way for Sophia to express her experiences and observations of a place her family has called home for over 150 years. I think you'll really enjoy hearing her stories living both as an insider and an outsider in Hong Kong.
You can find out more about Sophia and her book or message her at Sophiahotung.com or follow her @sophiahotung on most social media platforms.
If you'd like to connect with me, you can email me at Infatuasianpodcast@gmail.com or on Instagram @theinfatuasianpodcast Please consider giving us a rating or review on Apple or now Spotify!

Another surprise side dish podcast! I am very excited to share this conversation I had with filmmaker Debbie Lum about her documentary film, Try Harder! This film hit me personally as it was filmed at my high school, documenting the struggle today's teenagers feel as they apply to the most prestigious Universities in the country. It opens more widely on December 2nd or 3rd. Please go to Tryharderfilm.com to see which theaters it is playing in. Go see this film, I highly recommend it! Special thanks to Director/Producer Debbie Lum for coming on with us!
