Foodie Talk with Two Food Insiders Caryl Chinn and Top Chef Shirley Chung! Hear the origin story of my sister Caryl, who has worked with pretty much all the celebrity chefs we know and love. She was Bon Appetit magazine’s first food event planner in the 90’s when the food media industry blew up. Coming along with us is the amazingly effervescent Chef Shirley Chung! Shirley had us rolling on the floor laughing with her stories of growing up in a family of doctors and engineers. In the 2000s Shirley cooked for some of the biggest names in California and Las Vegas when Bravo’s Top Chef came looking for her to compete on Season 11 and again on Season 14! Shirley and Caryl’s stories will give you a glimpse into the world of celebrity chefs! Tune in next week for Part 2, where Shirley will share behind-the-scenes stories about her time on Top Chef! Side Dish #9 A Modern Chinese Love Story: Us and Them
Sunday Jan 30, 2022
Sunday Jan 30, 2022
A Special Lunar New Year Side Dish! Xin Nian Kaui Le Everyone! We hope you have a very prosperous new year! This is a movie I’ve loved since the moment I saw it. And it zooms in on a love story marked by the Lunar New Year. Some love stories center on couples who are so right and yet so wrong for each other. That’s the case for these two strangers, who become friends, who become lovers, who become strangers again. It’s on Netflix and might be an interesting way to spend your Lunar New Year, and it might even get you thinking about love, regret, forgiveness, and more.
Thanks to Beijing native Jenny for coming along this week. Hope you’re all well! Please write to us at Infatuasianpodcast@gmail.com or send us a direct message on Instagram @theinfatuasianpodcast Please follow us wherever you get your podcasts, and give us a rating/review at Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Thanks for listening!

Fox’s #1-Rated drama features a Cambodian/Filipina lead character whose strength, intelligence, and sheer determination are a force to be reckoned with. Hear Miranda talk about some of the subtle but very deliberate choices she made to maintain as much authenticity as possible. Everything from the soundtrack, the language, to the Jollibee fried chicken work to create a world we haven’t seen on network television before. It has an engaging story that will suck you in from the first episode. The Cleaning Lady airs on Fox, Mondays at 9 PM also Saturdays at 9 PM or on Fox.com. We highly recommend it!

Ep 17 Part Two: Asian Uni Life, Work, Love and Travel in Australia
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Part 2 of Episode 17! Our special collaboration with The Asian Soup Podcast continues as we touch on many topics about life in Australia as an Asian. Our SOUPER friends, Roxane and Julia, join us again from Sydney and we dive deeper into the similarities and differences growing up halfway around the world. Curtis, Mandy, and Madison also share their Asian American experiences and make plans for a hypothetical but hopefully real meet-up in the future! Also, you can tell from this picture that we were on opposite sides of the world because we have half the group wearing blankets and sweaters in the pitch black of winter while the other group is wearing tank tops and dresses on a bright Aussie summer day before Christmas!
Did you grow up Asian where you weren't part of the dominant culture? Share with us your thoughts at Infatuasianpodcast@gmail.com Please give us a review or rating at Apple Podcasts or Spotify! And follow us over on Instagram @theinfatuasianpodcast
More episodes coming soon! We'll be talking Tony Leung films as well as having Chef Shirley Chung from Top Chef season 11 and 14 (co-hosted by my favorite sister Caryl!)
